SIX SPRINGFIELD REPUBLICANS LEANING TOWARD VOTING YES ON STATE INCOME TAX INCREASE

CHICAGO—"If all Republican members of the Illinois General Assembly oppose the state income tax hike, the Democratic-sponsored income tax increase bills will not be approved," said Jim Tobin, President of National Taxpayers United of Illinois (NTUI).

“It’s absolutely crucial that all Republican legislators stand firm and vote No,” said Tobin. “If they do, the Democrats will not call for a vote on any state income tax increase bills, because if the Democratic Party alone raises the state income tax, they would be committing political suicide.”

According to Tobin, six Springfield Republicans reportedly are leaning toward voting Yes. They are:

St. Sen. Larry K. Bomke (R-50, Springfield)- Phone: (217) 782-0228

St. Sen. Dale E. Risinger (R-37, Peoria)- Phone: (217) 782-1942

St. Rep. Bob Biggins (R-41, Elmhurst)- Phone: (217) 782-6578

St. Rep. Dave Winters (R-68, Rockford)- Phone: (217) 782-0455

St. Rep. Ronald A. Wait (R-69, Belvidere)- Phone: (217) 782-0548

St. Rep. Roger L. Eddy (R-109, Hutsonville)- Phone: (217) 558-1040

“I strongly urge Illinois taxpayers who fall in these Senate and House districts to immediately call these legislators and ask them to vote against all bills that would raise taxes, especially any bill that would raise the state income tax. These votes could come any hour now, so an immediate response from taxpayers is necessary.”

Founded in 1976, NTUI is the largest taxpayer organization in Illinois with over
30,000 members and supporters and affiliation with more than 200 local taxpayer groups.

Thank you all for the updates from legislators, Quinn's office, etc. Carrie outlined much of what's going on in this eblast. People in Illinois are outraged!! The only way to stop these tax increases, at this point, is to target Democratic Suburban State Representatives with nonstop emails and calls, many of whom are concerned about their re-election in 2012.

Here's the link to all IL House Legislators   http://www.ilga.gov/house/default.asp

Did you know?

If you thought California had the ugliest budget outlook in America, think again. California's deficit is at $21 billion, or roughly 20%, of the state budget. But in Illinois, the budget deficit of $15 billion is greater than 40% of the state's annual revenues.

Illinois House heads home without the votes - Back on Sunday for vote

RED ALERT

Keep Those Phone Calls Going!

Update from Springfield !

Thank you for all the phone calls you made yesterday morning ….Madigan needed 60 votes to pass the Tax Increases …he garnered only 51….(heard he was very angry), so he adjourned the Chamber and sent the House members home with “reading material”.   Or another way to put this….since "Madigan is legendary for his ability to round up votes through persuasion and intimidation"   it gives Madigan time to do some “arm twisting” to get the 9 needed votes.  Madigan needs 2 Republican votes to pass this as well to make it look like it was a bi-partisian issue.  Keep in mind…SB600 can be brought to the floor for a vote at any time….knowing Tom Cross and the Republican Leaders do not want SB600 passed, since it would strip the Republican Party Leaders of their “power to control” ….Madigan can essentially say to Cross, get me the Republican votes I need or I will bring SB600 to the floor for a vote, knowing it would pass, as SB 600 has passed twice in the Senate.  And that Ladies and Gentleman is how the games are played in Springfield .  That is why we have to keep watch on Sunday afternoon to see if any Republican votes come in.  At this time we have been told all Republicans are standing firm with a NO Vote so the Democrats will solely own this tax increase…..REMEMBER  2012 is coming!

OR….Madigan could get the needed votes by a measure that was witnessed on Wednesday by one of our members in the Gallery.  A vote was being taken on the House Floor….4 House members were not in the Chamber when the vote was called.  Another Legislator, got up from his desk and went over and pressed the button on each of the 4 unoccupied seats and cast their votes for them!!!!!!   Ladies & Gentlemen……this is YOUR government at work!  And…you thought you were being represented!  Oh, you are, but not by whom you think!

Yesterday,  Republicans were called as well, in both the House & Senate and asked what their plan was ….. guess what….there isn’t one, as the Democrats keep the Republicans out of the loop.  Our taxpayer dollars are used to pay our politicians but are shut out!  Fair Representation???

House is to reconvene on Sunday, January 9th at 3P……. vote or not to vote???  That is the question….

Senate to reconvene on Monday, January 10th.

New Assembly sworn in on Wednesday, January 12th.
