"Of course he knows!"
That was the response of a friend to my report that Congressman Roskam did not know that President Obama might be secretly happy to be "confronted" with news that his policies result in situations like the mess in Springfield, Illinois. My friend insisted that these creatures of Washington, D.C. "go along to get along" in order to preserve their benefits as high-level government employees. In other words, Mr. Roskam merely pretended to challenge the President.
Upon reflection, I realize now that this rather disturbing viewpoint explains why Congressman Roskam sees nothing wrong with an exemption from Obamacare for government employees. What clearly drives Peter Roskam regarding complex issues that require integrity as much as intelligence and industry is the simple notion that his family's welfare comes before anyone else's family. In that respect, we are no different. Don't all of us place priority on our own families?
So when it comes down to it, the only difference between Congressman Peter Roskam and the rest of us is the fact that he gets paid to represent his family, and we don't.
