Enjoyed the meeting on July 8, learned so much.  I would like to know how I can get the constitution series that Carol started out the meeting with.  Saw a short segment on FNC last night about pharmaceuticals/vaccines that pretty much validated what Nicole said.

Patriots’ Breakfast:  April 8, 2017

Meeting announcement:   westsuburbanpatriots.ning.com/events/patriot-s-breakfast-april-2017

Our main speaker was Congressman Peter Roskam who is the chairman of the Ways & means, tax policy committee. He talked about progress they are making on tax reform.

Their goals are to create a tax policy that:

  • Grows the economy
  • Simplifies the tax code
  • Incentivizes companies to stay in (or return to) the USA
  • Must be permanent

He mentioned a border adjustment tax that is being considered.  Currently goods produced here pay our income tax then a value added tax for the country where they are to be sold.  Most other countries charge no tax on goods being exported and we currently charge nothing on imports. Net result is imports to the US are not taxed, while exports are double-taxed.  Not fair.  Proposal is to remove our tax on exports and add a tax on imports.

Our second speaker was Adam Andrzejewski (Founder & CEO of Open the Books).  He told us about the transparency work they are doing.  For instance did you know that there are 13,000 federal workers based in Chicago? Or that the EPA has 36,000 lawyers – that’s more than the 11,000 lawyers who work for the department of justice.

Frank Napolitano, Stan Zegel, and Jan shaw talked about next year’s local elections.

Voters deserve a choice.  We encouraged our patriots to consider running, or finding good candidates and helping them run.  The first day to circulate petitions for April 2017 consolidated elections is Sept. 20, 2015.  Now is the time to research boards and begin to organize.

Tom Sutton was our featured speaker.

He started with some history of taxes and the desire for one world order – going back to Genesis in the bible.

Then explained property taxes and assessments.  It is possible to have the Township assessor lower your assessment if you can show that it is out of line compared to similar homes in your area.  You can also appeal to the county.  There is a limited time after you receive your tax assessment to appeal.

June's theme is Emergency Preparedness

These are the tips that Carol planned to cover, but did not due to time: CarolsEmergencyPreptips.pdf

.

Dan Rubino discussed Ham radios for emergency communications.  Note: your child’s old Walkie-talkie can work for short distances if the phone and internet networks are down.

The links Dan provided:

Linda Memmesheimer, co-founder of “Think Wholistic ,“ discussed Healthy life styles with an emphasis on the need for iodine.  She is a cancer survivor who believes that getting her body back in balance chemically helped save her.  Her web sites:

American Blackout - video

We recommended watching the following video (free, on YouTube). It will give you an idea of the kind of situations for which we need Emergency Preparedness.

Patriots’ Breakfast: May 7, 2016

Meeting notice:   westsuburbanpatriots.ning.com/events/may-patriot-s-breakfast

Our featured speaker at last Saturday’s Patriots’ Breakfast was Robert Saar, the Executive Director of the DuPage County Election Commission.  He presented data that he has already presented in Springfield. The law that was passed and signed by Gov. Quinn at the end of his term to create same-day voter registration creates a two-tier system, which is un-Constitutional because it is not equal protection under the law.
Bob studied same day registration in other states.

  • States that have same day registration in the polling places see a 10%-12% increase in voter turnout.
  • States that have same day registration only at the election commission have less than 1% increase.

The Illinois law creates a two-tier system.
counties with large populations have in the polls same day registration
the 84 smaller counties have same day registration at one central point – not at the polls.
For state wide races, this will in effect disenfranchise downstate voters.

.
It was also an un-funded mandate. The smaller counties cannot afford to implement it without state funding. The larger counties managed to find the resources for the equipment, software and data.
Training of the voter registrars is another problem. Did they all know what types of ID are needed?
From talking to friends who were the on-site registrars we know there was frustration due to Would-be voters who did not have proper ID to prove citizenship, residency and identity. And the polling place that serves Wheaton College students was “slammed” with a long line of students waiting to register especially at the end of the day.
